With the line everyone shouts

Group karaoke songs

Songs that survive six people around one microphone. Each one lists the exact line the room joins in on.

A group karaoke song is a different instrument from a solo. It does not need to suit anyone's range, because no individual voice is exposed. What it needs is a hook the entire room already knows, and a structure that survives half a dozen people singing slightly out of time with each other.

That is why we list the specific line everyone shouts. It is the load bearing part of the song, the moment the room stops watching and joins in, and it predicts whether a group song will work better than anything else about it.

The rule for picking one is simple. Choose familiarity over quality every single time. A merely decent song that all eight people at the table know beats a brilliant one that only you do. The whole point is the noise.

Group karaoke songs: your questions answered

What are the best karaoke songs for a big group?

Anything with a chorus everyone already knows by heart. Bohemian Rhapsody, Sweet Caroline and Livin' on a Prayer are the classic three.

How many people can share one karaoke song?

Realistically four or five before nobody can hear themselves. Past that, pick something where the crowd shouts rather than sings.

Keep looking

plays a 30 second preview from Apple, and the video button opens a karaoke version with the words on screen. Range shows where the melody sits across roughly two octaves and how far it travels. It's an estimate, and the quickest way to tell whether a karaoke song suits your voice. Difficulty is our own 1 to 5 rating.

Key, tempo and release data come from MusicBrainz and TheAudioDB. Difficulty, vocal range and the note against each song are ours. We don't reproduce lyrics.
